Most students were able to complete the final draft for their letter of interest.
However, students need to finish the letter if it was not completed.

You may be asked what the Sears Wish book was. Part of students' hw was to ask their parents/guardians about it. That way they could here how great it was rifling through the bountiful number of pages filled with awe-inspiring clothes and toys. The second step was to circle all the items we wanted, but probably were not going to get for Christmas. Good old days...

Today in class we completed our Legend of Sleepy Hollow quizzes.
We also watched an interesting rendition of the Washington Irving classic from 1972. Students were enthralled by the funky music and interesting illustrations. There is a link below if you would like to check it out.

In addition to the video, the classes were working on the frames for their projects by painting. Luckily there were no paint-related injuries or paint catastrophes in the classroom.
Tomorrow we will compare and contrast the characters and plot between the Disney version of this American classic and Washington Irving's original.

Most students were able to finish, however some did not due to Vision screenings.
This evening for homework students should attempt to get their AR points

The 5 comprehension parts of the Sleepy Hollow packet are due Monday.
Students were permitted to take the stories home to complete the packets over the weekend if they were not completed. Many students were able to finish them.
We did a little painting in class today. There are some blossoming artists in our classes!
Tuesday we will finish the painting with acrylic, so bring in an older shirt to put over your nice school clothes.
We will have the Sleepy Hollow test on Wednesday.
Students will review in class Tuesday.

Be sure to ask which theory the student believes/favors as to what happened to Ichabod.
Tomorrow we will be painting in class with watercolors. Students may bring an old shirt to wear if there are any concerns.
The comprehension packet (Parts 1-5) is due on Monday, October 22nd. Students may submit their work tomorrow if it is completed.

Today we had the great opportunity to travel to Bloomsburg and enjoy listening to a symphonic orchestra. We enjoyed several works by famous composers such as Tchaikovsky and Bach. It was a great experience for the 5th grade students.

Students were asked to be sure their rough drafts have transition words, and no spelling errors this evening for homework.
The Red Kayak quizzes are in the process of being graded. I have gone through about 3,000 answers. Only about 1,100 more to go....I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! Students should have their grades within a day or two.

Students need to complete a Venn Diagram on comparing and contrastin the WW Jacobs writing to the Simpsons episode.
Students need to write a paragraph giving their opinion on if the monkey paw was lucky or unlucky with at least three supporting details.
