Homework October 30, 2019

Today is class we discussed which character, based on  the text evidence, is the protagonist and the antagonist in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
The results were surprising.
Students have their chapter summaries due this Friday.
I am presenting a project tomorrow. Students will have until Friday, November 8th to complete and submit it.

We have completed The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
Chapter illustrations and short summaries are due by Friday.
Students are going to be presented with a culminating project instead of a test tomorrow in class.
Students will be given the opportunity to work with a partner if they choose.
I will have a copy of the rubric on-line tomorrow.

My View textbook pages 26 and 29 - Students need to locate the information from the text and highlight/underline. Page 31 - Complete #s 1 and 3 with the necessary information.

We have read up to Chapter 11 in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. 
Students will complete the book within the next day or two. We will do a graded project in class to complete the unit.

We will have a quiz on the vocab and comprehension on the first five chapters of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow next week (most likely Wednesday or Thursday).
We are also going through the My View series. There is no Spelling test with this chapter.
There is no homework this weekend except for the kids to get outside, enjoy the Fall weather, and read a book.

Homework October 10, 2019

Today in class we began reading the first two chapters of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
Students also used context clues to decipher key vocabulary words within those chapters. Tomorrow, we are going to complete some comprehension in connection to the first two chapters and discuss cause and effect and sensory details.
In addition to Sleepy Hollow, our classes also began going through the My View pilot series. We discussed informational texts and are going to dive into TDAs and citing evidence to back up answers and opinions.
There is a lot going on in our classroom right now!
